Faith Formation

The vision of St. Cronan Parish's Faith Formation program is to model and lead our children into an ever deepening relationship with God that results in their ability to make a joyful response to engage in life-giving actions toward ongoing personal and social transformation.

Through the Faith Formation sequence we nurture full participation of our children and youth in community life, nurture the child's love relationship with God, and facilitate the children and youth in their discernment and development of their gifts and ways they are being called by the Holy Spirit.  Flowing from our designation as an intentional social justice parish, the faith formation sequence emphasizes the social justice dimension of the Gospel.

The Faith Formation process begins with the treasuring way we as a community welcome babies and toddlers during our liturgy.  It is fostered in the preschool and early school years through Children's Liturgy and nurtured during grades one and two through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.  Faith formation proceeds through ongoing reflection on Baptism and Eucharist, then Reconciliation, the Prophets and Jubilee justice, living the Beatitudes, and exploring the social justice dimensions of the Gospel through A Just Faith.  Faith Formation continues with Confirmation exploration, Confirmation preparation and Confirmation integration using a model which invites participation of the whole community.

Programs for the youth of the parish continue through high school.

The Youth Commission, in partnership with the pastoral associate, oversees faith formation and other aspects of children and youth ministry.  Recognizing the Spirit alive in our children and youth, the Youth Commission encourages fuller participation of children and youth in liturgy, Family Masses, and parish life.  Together with the pastoral associate, they gather resources and facilitate training of children and youth ministers, and are advocates for children in the neighborhood and world community.
